HEY, SOUL SISTERS! We’ve all heard the saying, “April showers bring May flowers” but I think these inevitable rainy days can bring a whole lot more than just some pretty spring landscaping. Of course, it’s easy to feel like crawling back into bed to do nothing but laze around on a dreary day. But in the spirit of living a meaningful existence, let’s not waste a day (even a rainy one)! Instead, let’s get inspired and do something worthwhile! Here are some rainy day ideas to try out the next time the skies open up:
-GET CRAFTING! Been meaning to chalk paint that old dresser or fill up your family scrapbook? Now’s your chance! Rainy days are the perfect indoor project day…you just have to start!
-AT HOME SPA DAY! Rainy days force you to stay inside longer than usual, so why not use some of the extra time to pamper yourself? Put on a clay mask, take a hot bubble bath, give yourself a mani/pedi, and even exchange back massages with your significant other. The skies the limit with this one so have fun with it. Wear a robe and put on some relaxing music-go all out!
-BE A BOOKWORM! Life is busy and I don’t get in as much reading as I want to. My “must-read” book list has been piling up and I’m ready to start making a dent. Next rainy day, I’m going to town on my latest book. Stay tuned for a future blog post about our favorite book recommendations!
-MEAL PREP! There’s nothing better than feeling productive, organized, and satisfied, right? Well, believe me when I tell you that if you start instilling a meal prep routine into your weekly schedule, you will feel all of the above. Rainy days are perfect for cooking up mass amounts of chicken or ground turkey for your future meals. Freeze what you won’t use within the next week and you are good to go!
-LEARN A NEW HOBBY! Youtube is a game changer. You can learn absolutely ANYTHING by searching online! Want to learn how to knit? Youtube it. Want to learn the guitar? Youtube it. When it’s rainy and I don’t feel like trekking outside to go to the yoga studio, I just Youtube “at-home yoga” and get my practice in.
These rainy day ideas are really just touching the surface, but the moral of today’s post is: don’t waste a day! Letting the weather serve as an excuse to do nothing is a bad habit that needs to be broken. This life is meant to be lived fully and you are meant to leave your unique mark…so rain or shine, make the most of it!
